This, my dear girl friends, should be number one on our list, if we’re unequally yoked — it is one large red flag! Yes, you might say “But, I might save him.”, sometimes this is true but most of the times it will just leave you blue.
Believe me when I say God has prepared someone for you, whom is a mirror image of Himself (Isn’t that wonderful?). Forcing our way would just leave us broken, I tried walking this path and learned it the hard way. Nevertheless, being in the same religion/belief does not save you otherwise. That’s why we will list down the standards and probably tick off most (95%) or all of them in order to save us from restless nights of agony and pain.
Girls, we must be patient and believe that God has a better plan in our lives. If he is sweeping you off your feet but is not on the same boat as you are — in faith and in life — it is bound to doom. I am not judging people, I’m just saying the truth — it will hurt but it will set us free.
Now if you’re already in a relationship, pray and pray and pray. Pray to God that the person you are with will be saved. Pray His will to prevail — whether the answer to it is not what we like. Let us give God the pen of our love life (What I’ve learned from reading When God Writes Your Love Story), I know in my heart He’ll write the best stories for each and everyone of us.
If you’re hurting, let us pray to God to help us with our circumstance, and not only us, to the person who hurt us as well. In God we’ll find peace for He is the King of Peace. Yes, it will hurt now, and we need to be hurt now so that we won’t need to cry at night anymore. We might not understand, and let us not try to understand anymore but put our whole being and life to God. Dedicate ourselves to his higher calling and focus on other things — ok?
If you’re looking — not me. Please just wait and pray. Keep your eyes on God and you won’t know it, God will provide you more than what you could ever imagine.
Now girls remember this golden rule. It will save you from the pain. ☺
Same goes with you, having a great body, great face doesn’t mean she’s it if you are unequally yoked. Yes they are beautiful, but girls who are God fearing are far more beautiful.
“Your beauty [Girls] should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.” — 1 Peter 3:3 NIV
Now I’m putting this in NIV so that you could easily understand — I’m helpful like that yah know. Another one:
“Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord , she shall be praised.” — Proverbs 31:30 KJV
See, God tells us so. Need I say more?
Now if you are already in a relationship, ask her to come to church. And just as what I advised the girls pray pray pray (girls, you could also ask you guys as well, ok? Never be afraid to ask). God will give you the wisdom and I believe He is doing it right now.
Now if you’re hurting— I could also say the same. It’s ok guys, you can cry. Also, please talk to someone whom you trust — a guy friend is highly preferred, I know you know why, I trust you to know the rationale behind this. You might be in destructive mode if you have to carry it all. Ok?
Now if you’re looking — again, please just wait. God will provide you of the person He knows is good for you.
I know this has been a topic in all of our churches, I know you understand what I’m saying and I’m just basically reiterating what our parents, pastors and friends are telling.
Let us pray for our spiritual growth, our future spouse and us. Let us pray for discernment and wait for the Lord. Hold on, God is never late. ☺
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord , thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” — Jeremiah 29:11 KJV
